Jay Rodriguez back in Southampton training after knee injury

Jay Rodriguez has returned to first-team training for Southampton following his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Rodriguez, 25, suffered a serious knee injury a year ago, a problem that required surgery to aid his recovery.

The striker, who scored 15 Premier League goals last season, trained with his teammates on Wednesday, leading to hopes he could feature before the campaign finishes.

Sources told ESPN FC in January that Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City are among the clubs monitoring the England international.

Southampton are currently seventh in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-place Manchester United with four games remaining.
