Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin: I want to play for a big club

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has said he wants to play for "a big club" but will wait and see whether the Saints maintain their remarkable form before deciding on his future in the summer.

Schneiderlin, 25, has scored three goals in the south coast club's 11 Premier League games so far, helping them consolidate their position in second place behind leaders Chelsea.

The France international midfielder had said he wanted to leave in the summer as former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino and a host of big-name players including Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert departed.

But despite reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham -- the club to which Pochettino moved, being replaced at St Mary's by Ronald Koeman -- Schneiderlin stayed put.

"I've just turned 25, I have made a step up," he told a news conference at the France squad's training camp at Clairefontaine. "A career goes quickly, and I want to play at a big club. Today I'm at Southampton, we're second in the Premier League and it's going well.

"We'll see at the end of the season what happens, whether we're still in the Champions League places, and I'll make choices. I'll see with my club."
