Jonas Hector could leave Cologne this summer amid Liverpool links

Cologne would listen to offers for Germany international Jonas Hector, club coach Peter Stoger has told kicker.

Hector, 25, has become a permanent fixture in Germany's starting formation since debuting against Gibraltar in November 2014, and has been the only national team player to start in all nine matches of 2015, winning 12 caps.

And the left-back scored his first goal for the Nationalmannschaft in Tuesday's 4-1 win against Italy.

Hector has become a mainstay for Cologne, only missing one match this season through injury, and in recent weeks Stoger has also played him in a holding midfield role.

The 25-year-old -- who came through the ranks of Saarland minor-league club SV Auersmacher -- joined Cologne in 2010 and is currently contracted to the Billy Goats until 2018.

While with the national team last week, Hector said "that he would consider" an offer from Liverpool should he receive a call from Jurgen Klopp, but also added that he currently "wastes no thoughts on a transfer."

Regardless of Hector's comments, the left-back could still move on from Cologne, as they hope to improve their squad by selling players for big fees -- just like with Kevin Wimmer, who joined Tottenham from the Bundesliga club last summer.

"I don't have to talk about what may happen in the summer," Stoger said. "But if somebody should offer us a three-figure million sum, we'd probably give in. If a two-figure million sum is offered, we'd consider it. And if Jonas Hector says that he doesn't want to stay here, we'd have to face up to it."

And Stoger -- who in 2014 led Cologne back into the top flight where they are currently ninth -- added that he's aware clubs have taken notice of Hector.

"When a player like Jonas, who permanently refines himself, is in the spotlight it is just a super story," he said. "There are worse problems for a club than having to deal with a player maybe leaving the club because he's in incredible form."
