Australia midfielder James Troisi joins Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad

Australia midfielder James Troisi, who scored the extra time winner in January's AFC Asian Cup final, has signed for Jeddah-based Ittihad FC in the Saudi Premier League.

The 27-year-old attacker, who was previously with Serie A club Juventus, was left out of the Socceroos' squad for two upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers so he could sort out his club future.

Troisi will join former AC Milan player Sulley Muntari at Ittihad FC, who are three-time Asian champions and have won the Saudi league on eight occasions.

Last season, Troisi went out on loan from Juventus to Zulte Waregem in Belgium after a previous loan spell at A-League club Melbourne Victory. He started his career as a youth player at Newcastle United in England.

Troisi will join fellow Australia internationals Mark Milligan (Baniyas), Mark Bresciano (Al Gharafa) and Brett Holman (Emirates Club) in West Asia.

He has won 23 caps and scored four goals since making his Socceroos' debut against Singapore in 2008.
