PSG keeping tabs on U.S. star Dest amid Barcelona, Bayern Munich interest - sources

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing United States star Sergino Dest as they continue their search for a new right-back, sources have told ESPN.

The Ajax defender, 19, is attracting a lot of interest from big European clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Sources told ESPN that PSG are keeping tabs on Dest in case they fail to sign Lazio's Adam Marusic, and Ajax could ask for a fee of around €20 million for the defender.

PSG sporting director Leonardo has not yet made contact with Dest's agent or with Ajax, sources have told ESPN. However, the U.S national team star is represented by Stellar group, which has good relations with PSG since the arrival of Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla in 2017.

The group also represented France under-19 international Loic Mbe Soh when he signed his first professional contract at the Parc des Princes in 2018.

Sources have told ESPN that Leonardo likes Dest's profile, despite recognising his lack of experience. Dest has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season, scoring two goals. He also received Ajax's Talent of the Year of the award last month, which is given annually to the club's best young player.

PSG are in the market for a right-back after they decided not to extend Thomas Meunier's contact. The Belgium international will depart on a free this summer, leaving behind just Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba as the only two right-backs in the squad.

Dest declared for the USMNT in October after turning down approaches from the Netherlands. He has three caps for the U.S. national team after representing the U.S. at U17 and U20 levels.
