Mexico defender Carlos Salcedo to join Tigres from Eintracht Frankfurt - sources

Mexico international Carlos Salcedo has agreedĀ a move to Liga MX side Tigres from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to ESPN Mexico sources and multiple reports.

Salcedo is expected to travel to Mexico to sign a deal with Ricardo Ferretti's team in what is a surprise transfer given the defender has been a regular for Eintracht Frankfurt when available.

The 25-year-old center-back was part of Tigres' youth system but left for Real Salt Lake in 2012 in search of more first-team opportunities.

Salcedo signed for Chivas in 2015 before moving on to Fiorentina in the summer of 2016 and then to Eintracht Frankfurt one year later.

Salcedo excelled at the World Cup for Mexico and is considered a key figure for El Tri for the upcoming 2022 World Cup cycle.

The Guadalajara native was named best center-back of the 2015 Apertura with Chivas and won last season's DFB-Pokal with Eintracht Frankfurt, who defeated Bayern Munich in the final.

Salcedo has endured an injury-hit season in Germany, with an ankle injury and operation keeping him out of for three months from Sept. 1.

Salcedo stated earlier this month that there was interest from Chivas and other Mexican clubs in bringing him back to Liga MX, but said he was comfortable in Germany.
