Mauro Icardi set for Inter Milan contract extension - Piero Ausilio

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has said Mauro Icardi is set for a new deal at the club.

The Argentina forward's contract runs until 2021 and Ausilio says there is no rush to extend it, although he believes a renewal could be signed any time.

"From our side, there is the desire to improve his terms and renew his contract, while on his side there is collaboration," Ausilio told Sky Sport Italia.

"Since he has three years left to run on his contract, it's possible that we do it in a few days or in a few months, but it's not a problem."

Icardi, 25, became the Nerazzurri's captain in 2015. He has made 196 Serie A appearances and scored 113 goals, 103 of them for Inter, whom he joined from Sampdoria in 2013.

He has scored three goals in six Serie A outings this season and twice in Inter's two Champions League wins over Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven.
