Arsenal near deal to sell Lucas Perez to West Ham - agent

West Ham United are in talks about a deal for Arsenal forward Lucas Perez, with the player keen on staying in London and the Premier League, the player's agent has told ESPN FC.

West Ham are among several clubs to have expressed an interest in Perez, who is surplus to requirements at the Emirates after the signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the last two transfer windows.

"I know that West Ham want him and they have made an offer," Lucas's agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle told ESPN FC. "It is an option. Lucas is happy at Arsenal but he wants to play regularly and West Ham is an option for him.

"There are other clubs interested but joining West Ham would allow him to continue in London and in the Premier League and Lucas wants to continue in London.

"In Spain there are also interest from some clubs, but they are not willing to assume the transfer."

West Ham also made an offer worth around €30 million to sign Maxi Gomez but are now ready to turn their attention to Lucas after Celta Vigo asked €40m for the Uruguay international.

Perez was bought from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016 for around £17m, but he could not get regular playing time and was sent back to the club on loan last season.

He could be sold at a cut-rate price rate, though, with reports claiming Arsenal may settle for around £5m.

Perez took part in Arsenal's tour of Singapore but was not involved in the win over Lazio in Stockholm on Saturday.

Head coach Unai Emery said after that match that the club is likely to sell a couple of players this week as they look to trim the squad.

Among the players who could exit is Calum Chambers, as sources have told ESPN FC that Arsenal are near a deal to loan him to Fulham.

Information from ESPN FC's Eduardo Fernandez-Abascal was used in this report.
