PSG contact Jerome Boateng camp, Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge claims

Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with representatives of Germany international defender Jerome Boateng over a potential transfer, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed.

Boateng, 29, is contracted with the Bundesliga champions until 2021, but could be set to leave after seven seasons with the German giants for a move to last season's Ligue 1 winners.

"At the moment there is no direct contact between the clubs," Rummenigge told reporters. "But I think there is contact between his agents and PSG.

"Now we have to wait and see whether at the end of the day we find a basis on which we can agree on a transfer. We have to find a transfer fee that would be acceptable for both.

"In principle, we have enough players at this position, even if Jerome leaves."

Boateng has enjoyed a trophy laden spell at Bayern, winning six Bundesliga titles and one Champions League crown since arriving from Manchester City in 2011. The centre-back was also part of Germany's World Cup-winning side in 2014.

However, the former Hamburg defender has had several struggles with injury in recent years, and new Bayern boss Niko Kovac has Mats Hummels, Javi Martinez and Niklas Sule as as first-team options at centre-back.
