RB Leipzig's Emil Forsberg fuels transfer rumours with Twitter post

Emil Forsberg has fuelled rumours he could have already played his last match for RB Leipzig after simply writing "thanks for everything" on Twitter on Monday.

The midfielder picked up a red card after he elbowed Florian Grillitsch in the 5-2 defeat to Hoffenheim on Saturday and will be banned for the club's final three games.

Kicker reported on Monday that Leipzig could be willing to sell the Sweden international, one of their top earners.

Forsberg was heavily linked with AC Milan last summer, having scored eight goals with 22 assists in his debut season in the Bundesliga, but Leipzig closed the door on any possible transfer ahead of their maiden Champions League campaign.

They were knocked out in the group stage in December, spurring links to Arsenal in January, but Forsberg has been beset by injuries, making just 21 appearances, scoring twice and setting up a further two goals.

Bild reported on Monday that the German FA has informed Leipzig that Forsberg's season is over.

Leipzig will already lose midfielder Naby Keita to Liverpool in the summer and, despite a contract until 2019, coach Ralph Hasenhuttl's position no longer seems to be safe after the club dropped to sixth in the Bundesliga.
