Bayern Munich chief Rummenigge: Transfer market not getting cheaper

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said Bayern Munich will have to break their transfer record to keep pace with other elite clubs.

Bayern's record signing is 23-year-old Corentin Tolisso -- signed from Lyon for €40.5 million this summer.

Amid strong links to Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez earlier in the season, president Uli Hoeness said at the time: "You cannot build a new team with €100 million transfers for 29-30-year-olds."

However, Rummenigge said the Bundesliga champions would have to loosen the purse strings in order to sign the best talent.

"The transfer market is the way it is," CEO Rummenigge told sky.

"It's not becoming any cheaper if you want to sign good players."

He added: "Uli Hoeness and I agree that we will have to take the plunge at some stage and sign a player for a transfer fee between €80-100 million."
