Schalke's Leon Goretzka: Bayern Munich talk 'getting on my nerves'

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has told Sky Deutschland that continued transfer speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich is "really getting on my nerves."

Goretzka, 22, has scored 15 goals in 118 games for Schalke since moving from Bochum in 2013 and could leave for nothing when his contract with the Royal Blues expires next summer.

Sport Bild claimed in May that the Germany international had already agreed to join the Bundesliga champions, a report immediately denied by the midfielder on his Facebook page.

However, the speculation has continued over the summer with the German publication reporting earlier this month that Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester City want to sign him, joining Bayern, Liverpool and Champions League winners Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

"Honestly, it is really getting on my nerves," he said. "I can see why it interests people but I can only repeat once again, there's nothing new to report with Munich. I have clearly denied there is an agreement in place -- with any club. I can promise you this is the case."

Meanwhile, Schalke's sporting executive Christian Heidel has also dismissed suggestions that Goretzka has already agreed to join Bayern next summer as "utter nonsense," adding it sometimes "is amusing what is said and speculated there."

Heidel added: "People told me that Leon has long agreed to join Bayern and the next day another guy tells me he's dead certain Leon has accepted our offer to renew the contract."

Heidel says Goretzka, who was an integral part of Germany's successful 2017 Confederations Cup campaign in Russia, will soon make a decision on whether to stay or leave on a free transfer next summer.
