Arturo Vidal hopes Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez joins him at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has described Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez as "a spectacular player" and said he hopes he will join the Bundesliga champions.

Vidal, a Chile international teammate of Sanchez, told Sport BildĀ that signing the attacker would improve Bayern still further.

Sanchez is out of contract at Arsenal next summer, and reports have linked him with both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain.

"We'll see if Alexis is coming. I do not know yet," Vidal said.

"I know him very well. He is a spectacular player. And we would certainly improve with him."

His comments came after former Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld told the paper that buying Sanchez would make the Bundesliga champions "a better team."

But Hitzfeld, who led Bayern to five Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown, said the club needed to move quickly to secure a good deal for the Chile international.

"He is a player in the category that can make Bayern a better team," he said.

"But it's important to make decisions as quickly as possible, because the longer you wait the more expensive a player becomes."

Bayern have made four signings so far this summer, adding midfielder Corentin Tolisso from Lyon, former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen and Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy from Hoffenheim.
