Sevilla confirm interest in Jesus Navas, play down Alberto Moreno link

Sevilla president Jose Castro has said there is potential for Jesus Navas to return to the club from Manchester City, but played down reports that Liverpool's Alberto Moreno could rejoin.

Navas spent 10 years with Sevilla before moving to the Premier League in 2013, but he has not featured regularly for Pep Guardiola and has only started 15 games in all competitions this season.

"Jesus Navas could be one of the players the club work on. He's out of contract [in the summer] and has given his life to this club," Castro told a news conference.

"We're working on many players and of course he could be an option, but we don't want to divert attention away from the present.

"Right now we have to back the squad we have, which is getting good results. This is the squad that has to hit the target we've set out, which is to be in the Champions League."

Moreno is in a similar situation at Liverpool having lost his left-back spot to James Milner.

The 24-year-old has mainly been an unused substitute this season, but a return to his hometown club is not likely.

Asked about the rumours, Castro said: "It's information that has come out that doesn't have any truth. I am not aware of that."

Castro also said there had been no contact from the Argentina Football Association about coach Jorge Sampaoli despite reports linking him to the vacant national team job.

ESPN FC's Sam Marsden contributed to this report.
