Chelsea, Man City and Man United eye defender Antonio Rudiger - sources

Scouts from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United watched Germany defender Antonio Rudiger against England on Wednesday ahead of a potential move, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Rudiger, a long-term target for the trio, played the full 90 minutes in his country's 1-0 win at Dortmund.

The central defender has returned to full fitness after a cruciate knee ligament injury forced him to miss Euro 2016 and meant he only returned to action for his club, Roma, in October.

Rudiger, 24, was considered by Chelsea before his knee injury last summer and they also weighed up the possibility of bringing him in during the January window.

Manchester City are looking for defensive reinforcements, while United are also in the market for a new central defender.

Roma, who look set to qualify for the Champions League next season, are reluctant to lose Rudiger but sources close to the player told ESPN FC that he would consider a move to the Premier League.
