League One side Rochdale could bank more than £4 million from West Ham United's move for Brentford striker Scott Hogan after negotiating a 30 percent sell-on clause following the player's move to Griffin Park in 2014. Brentford have rejected three bids from West Ham for the 24-year-old -- sources have told ESPN FC that the Championship outfit turned down West Ham's latest bid of £12m over the weekend -- but manager Dean Smith admitted in the wake of the club's FA Cup victory over Eastleigh that "the club will have to listen" to the offers being made for the goal scorer. West Ham are confident that a deal can be struck for Hogan without the need to pay Brentford's £15m asking price. But with Rochdale due a significant portion of any fee, Brentford are determined to hold out for an agreement in the region of their valuation. Hogan, who qualifies to play for both England and Republic of Ireland, was sold by Rochdale for £750,000 in the summer of 2014 after scoring 17 goals in 33 league games at Spotland. But with the club forced to survive on average attendances of just over 3,400 in the shadow of Premier League neighbours Manchester United and Manchester City, outgoing transfers such as Hogan's are structured to ensure further payments should the player be sold for a profit. And with Rochdale entitled to 30 percent of any profit on Brentford's £750,000 investment, the club could receive as much as £4.2m if West Ham are forced to pay the full £15m asking price.
