Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has told Goal he has no doubts that Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho would be success at the Camp Nou.
Coutinho was linked with a move to the Spanish champions last week, but sources told ESPN FC that Liverpool have received no approach from Barcelona for the player who is "clearly happy" at Anfield.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season, with his five league goals helping Liverpool reach the top of the Premier League.
Xavi, who now plays in Qatar for Al Sadd SC, believes the Brazil international would improve Luis Enrique's side, but says there is no immediate rush for him to make a move to Spain.
"Coutinho is a player I have always thought is special -- but under [Liverpool coach Jurgen] Klopp he has gone up another level," Xavi said. "On form there are not any better midfield players in Europe.
"He has always shown quality but now he is consistently playing well and that is good news for Liverpool if they want to really challenge for the title.
"He is playing under one of the most intelligent coaches in Europe. Klopp has a lot of experience at developing world-class players, so it is a good club for him to be at."
Xavi added: "When you play at the level he is there is always going to be talk, but for now he needs to ignore all that and stay focused, because I think Liverpool have a real chance this season.
"There are not many players that can improve Barcelona, but if you are asking me if he is one of them, on this form, I think he is. Technically he is very good. He would suit Barcelona's philosophy well."
Meanwhile, Coutinho played 86 minutes of Brazil's 2-0 victory over Peru on Tuesday night before being replaced by Douglas Costa.
Sources told ESPN FC on Tuesday that Liverpool have split the cost of a private jet with Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in order to bring their Brazilian players back from international duty as quickly as possible.
