Antonio Cassano told to 'get lost' by Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has told ex-Italy international Antonio Cassano to "get lost" and said he has outstayed his welcome.

Cassano, 34, still has a year to run on his contract, but coach Marco Giampaolo has made it clear he is no longer wanted.

Earlier this week, Cassano's wife tweeted that he had no problem sitting out the remainder of his contract without playing and "getting changed with the kitmen."

But Ferrero told Primo Canale television: "Instead of continuing this standoff with me, he should get lost and go to where he is wanted.

"We had this agreement -- he came here for one year and was playing little. When he was playing he was complaining, and when he wasn't playing he was complaining.

"I spoke with him and was crystal clear. He's done his time here."

Ferrero told Cassano he was no longer needed a month ago, shortly after Giampaolo had been named as the club's new coach and it became clear he did not plan to name him in his squad.

The former Roma, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Parma forward has received an offer from Serie B club Virtus Entella but appears reluctant to drop down a level.

"I like Cassano a lot, and it was I who brought him here with all my strength -- but his time here is now over," Ferrero added.
