Hertha Berlin want Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry on loan

Hertha Berlin have confirmed they are interested in signing Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry on loan.

Gnabry, 21, has seen his progress stall recently but has excelled at the Olympics this summer, scoring six goals in four games for Germany ahead of Wednesday's semifinal against Nigeria.

The former Stuttgart youth academy player has been linked with a host of Bundesliga clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig in recent days, and Hertha coach Pal Dardai has said he hopes to take him to Berlin.

"Serge exactly meets our search parameters," Dardai told Bild. "Let's see what will happen in the next couple of days."

However, Gnabry's contract at Arsenal is due to expire in June 2017 and he would likely need to sign an extension before being allowed to leave on loan.

The youngster had a disappointing spell at West Bromwich Albion last season that was cut short in January, and he made only five reserve-team appearances for the Gunners upon his return.
