Schalke confirm signing of Sevilla captain Coke

Schalke are close to signing Sevilla defender Coke after the player passed a medical and a deal was agreed for his transfer.

Coke, 29, will complete the formalities of the deal with Sevilla on Monday before linking up with Schalke at their preseason training camp in Austria, the German side confirmed on their website.

The midfielder becomes the latest player to leave in a summer overhaul of the Spanish side, following the departures of Ever Banega, Jose Antonio Reyes, Ciro Immobile, Kevin Gameiro and Grzegorz Krychowiak among others.

Coke, the Sevilla captain, scored twice against Liverpool in May's 3-1 Europa League final win for Sevilla, as they won the competition for a third consecutive year.
