Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti cools Leroy Sane speculation

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has cooled talk of a move for Schalke winger Leroy Sane, telling reporters: "We don't need new players."

Sane, 20, has been strongly linked with a switch to Manchester City this summer, with some media outlets in Germany reporting that he has already agreed terms on a four-year contract, but the Germany international's father said at the weekend that Bayern and Real Madrid "are also still in the mix."

Bayern have been linked with Sane for a while but it has been suggested that they would only make a move in the summer of 2017, when a €37 million release clause becomes active.

Despite recent reports that Bayern could step up their interest in the player following Arjen Robben's muscle injury, Ancelotti told a news conference prior to the friendly against Manchester City on Wednesday: "Our team is very good. All positions are well-staffed. We don't need new players for this season."

He said he is hopeful that Robben, who missed several weeks at the end of last season through injury, will be back in time for Bayern's Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen on Aug. 26.

"It's disappointing, but I hope that he can be ready for the start of the season," he said.

Meanwhile, Bayern have announced that it will be three weeks before Douglas Costa can resume training.

The Brazil winger, who missed the Copa America Centenario with a thigh injury, has had to withdraw from the Olympic football tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
