Zlatan Ibrahimovic in advanced Manchester United talks - source

Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a source close to the club has told ESPN FC.

Ibrahimovic's future has been the subject of intense speculation after the 34-year-old confirmed he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires this summer.

A host of clubs across the world have expressed an interest in signing the Sweden striker as a free agent, but the player has remained coy on his next destination.

However, a source close to Manchester United has told ESPN FC that they are in pole position to land his signature.

United are in currently talks with Ibrahimovic's representatives over a one-year deal and are hopeful of completing a move before Euro 2016 begins on June 10.

When asked if Ibrahimovic might be given time off to complete the move, Sweden manager Erik Hamren said: "We have days off. We plan our activities and the players can act based on that."

New United manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Ibrahimovic, having worked with him during his time in charge of Inter Milan, and he has made recruiting the striker one of his top priorities after taking over at Old Trafford.
