Bayern Munich's Medhi Benatia not seeking Roma return - agent

Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia's agent says it is unlikely that the Morocco international will return to Serie A this summer.

Benatia, 29, joined Bayern from Roma two summers ago but there has been talk of him seeking a return to Italy having struggled to settle in Bavaria.

With Bayern signing Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week and Holger Badstuber set to return next season from injury, Benatia's playing time may reduce further next season.

However his agent, Moussa Sissoko, says he is quite sure Benatia will remain with the Bundesliga champions.

"We've got a meeting arranged to talk with Bayern next week," he told LaRoma24. "There's not been anything with Roma -- he's staying at Bayern."

Sissoko added that it was "absolutely not true" that Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini had already spoken with the player about a return to the Giallorossi, while he insisted also that he has not spoken to Juventus, adding that he "cannot say anything" about whether his client is thinking about leaving following the signing of Hummels.

Benatia has made just 13 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern this season, although he did spend a large part of the campaign sidelined by injury. He featured just 15 times in his first season for the German champions having been a regular for Roma in the 2013-14 campaign, when he missed just five games due to injury and suspension.

His contract with Bayern runs until 2019.
