Milos Veljkovic has joined Bundesliga club Werder Bremen from Tottenham in a permanent deal, signing a contract until 2019.

Veljkovic, 20, had six months remaining on his deal at Spurs and will reportedly cost Bremen in the region of £500,000.

Reports in Germany claim the centre-back will spend the rest of the campaign in Bremen's under-23 group, before being promoted to the first team next season.

"We have wanted Milos for a very long time and we are glad we were able to sign him," Bremen CEO Thomas Gauge told the club's official website. "This transfer is an investment for the future."

Veljkovic, who can also play in midfield, spent time on loan at Middlesbrough and Charlton last term and spoke of his desire to break into the Tottenham first team this season after starring in Serbia's under-20 World Cup triumph in the summer.

But he failed to play for Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino and his only two Premier League appearances came at the end of the 2013-14 campaign under then-boss Tim Sherwood.
