Real Madrid links with Lewandowski no problem - Bayern Munich CEO

Bayern Munich are "in no way nervous" about fresh reports linking Robert Lewandowski with Real Madrid, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

Madrid have been linked with a move for Lewandowski for some time, having made an effort to hijack the striker's free transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern in 2014 before reportedly renewing their interest in recent weeks.

Lewandowski's agents, Cezary Kucharski and Maik Barthel, both denied claims Madrid had been in contact last month but AS this week published a picture of Kucharski in the VIP box at the Bernabeu.

The AS report said Lewandowski was one of the Madrid's top targets and that "those in the player's close circle view enormous potential in a possible future [Gareth] Bale-Lewandowski partnership and feel the time is right for him to make the move to the Spanish capital."

The Poland international gave little away on his intentions when speaking to reporters prior to his departure to Croatia for Bayern's Champions League clash away to Dinamo Zagreb, saying his "agent has certainly not been to Madrid for the first time."

He added: "I don't have to comment on what he does. I've got a match I'm focusing on."

Rummenigge, though, said in Bild that Lewandowski is under contract until 2019, adding: "We are in no way nervous.

"I've got a good relationship with him [Lewandowski] and his agents. I don't have problem with them showing up in another stadium. I can imagine that Madrid are interested in Robert, but that leads nowhere.

"The player has three and a-half years left on his contract. I can also imagine that Robert will stay here longer than that."

On Tuesday afternoon, German sports paper Reviersport published what appeared to be new remarks from Kucharski, but Barthel wrote on Twitter: "Quotes are wrong and dated! But it [the story] has been amended."

Reviersport cited sources suggesting Lewandowski would sign a new contract at Bayern until 2021 but that the Bundesliga champions may primarily be looking to increase his transfer value ahead of a potential sale.
