Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has left Manchester United to join Bayer Leverkusen on a three-year contract, the Bundesliga club announced on Monday.
Hernandez, 27, passed a medical with the Bundesliga club on Monday after he was allowed to travel to Germany with a reported fee of 8.75 million agreed.
United manager Louis van Gaal had signalled that the Mexico international would be one of his strikers for the season but that changed when the former Premier League champions moved to sign French forward Anthony Martial from Monaco for £36m.
And Hernandez's last appearance for United came as a substitute in last week's 4-0 win over Club Brugge, when he missed a penalty.

The forward, who joined from Guadalajara for £6.9m in 2010, leaves United after scoring 59 goals in 157 games for the club.
He was named their Player of the Year in the 2010-11 campaign, when he scored 20 goals, but has only started 16 Premier League games since the 2012 arrival of Robin van Persie.
Hernandez was loaned to Real Madrid last season, scoring seven La Liga goals, after United decided he was their fifth-choice forward.
The striker told Bayer Leverkusen's website: "I know the English Premier League and the Primera Division in Spain, two of the three major European leagues. Now I want to experience the Bundesliga.
"It's wonderful that I get to play for a club like Bayer Leverkusen. It's a great opportunity for me and I want to achieve something here."
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller said: "With 'Chicharito,' we have more possible variations and we'll be more unpredictable. He's a lively, agile and fast striker who is strong, has a good technique and a very good record. I am delighted that he has chosen to join Bayer Leverkusen. The Bundesliga can look forward to seeing a great player."
Hernandez had attracted interest from Major League Soccer club Orlando City and was a reported target for West Ham and Tottenham.
He joins Van Persie, Angel Di Maria, Nani, Jonny Evans and Rafael da Silva among the summer departures from Old Trafford as United have brought in around £70m.
Goalkeeper David De Gea is also on his way to Real Madrid, after sources told ESPN FC that a fee of around €35 million has been agreed between the clubs, while Anders Lindegaard signed for West Brom on Monday.
Bayer Leverkusen, who qualified for the Champions League by beating Lazio last week, have also signed Germany's World Cup winner Christoph Kramer and Chile's Copa America winner Charles Aranguiz this summer.
This month, Leverkusen midfielder Aranguiz tore his Achilles tendon, meaning he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
With Hernandez incoming, Leverkusen announced that Robbie Kruse will join Stuttgart on a season-long loan.
