Felipe Anderson on Man United target list with Pedro gone - sources

Manchester United are ready to rekindle their interest in Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson after missing out on Pedro to Chelsea, sources have told ESPN FC.

Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and the club had lined up a move for Spain international Pedro before Chelsea swooped in to lure him Stamford Bridge.

As a result, United have been forced to look elsewhere to try and bring in a new face to their attack and Anderson figures highly on their wanted list, sources said.

United have been credited with an interest in Southampton's Sadio Mane, but the south coast club insist they will not sell the Senegal international, and Van Gaal is set to shift attention to Anderson.

The Lazio midfielder is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Europe after impressing in Serie A last season with 10 goals and seven assists to help Lazio reach the Champions League.

Despite playing in Lazio's qualifying clash against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek, Anderson could still be eligible to play for another club in the Champions League group stages if he moves during the transfer window.

Lazio are reluctant to lose Anderson as they look to build on their impressive campaign last term, but United are pondering a bid to test Lazio's resolve to hang onto the South American.
