Pep Guardiola backs Pedro for Man United success should move happen

Current Bayern Munich and former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said he has no doubt that Barca forward and Manchester United target Pedro can be successful "with any club in the world."

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has suggested that his club need to sign a player in the mould of the Spain international, who has a £22 million release clause in his contract at the Camp Nou.

But Guardiola, speaking at his Audi Cup news conference, said Pedro would have no trouble adapting the Premier League if a move were to occur.

"These are rumours I have heard but I don't know the situation," Guardiola said. "If I was the Barcelona coach, I could tell you more. Regarding his abilities, there are no doubts: European champion with the national team and league champion with his club. He was won everything.

"When you have played millions of matches with Barca you can play on any team in the world. He has played at many positions. I wish him the best because he is a great person and a great player."

Van Gaal believes the Old Trafford club need more attacking options if they are to win the Premier League.

United's only attacking signing so far this summer has been £25m Netherlands international Memphis Depay.

Pedro scored 11 goals for Barcelona last season but lost his place in their strongest side after the arrival of Luis Suarez.
