Javier Pastore says that Angel Di Maria has told him he wants to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The French champions have been in negotiations with Manchester United about a deal for the former Real Madrid winger and manager Laurent Blanc has said they are close to signing the 27-year-old.
And Argentina international Pastore has said his compatriot Di Maria is eager to make the move to France.
"I told him to join us," Pastore told Le Parisien. "He also asked me many questions about the club, the city and the way of life for his family.
"He wants to come. He is a very great player. Plus, he alone can win important matches."
Di Maria cost United a British record £59.7 million when they signed him last year and they are set to make a substantial loss on the former Benfica player, although the change in the exchange rate between the pound and the euro could mitigate that.
He lost his place in the United team after he was sent off in the FA Cup quarterfinal defeat to Arsenal and only began one of their final 10 games of last season.
Di Maria failed to board a flight to California last Saturday to join up with United on their preseason tour of the U.S. and manager Louis van Gaal then said he did not know where his most expensive buy was.
