Kevin Grosskreutz remarks 'disappoint' Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel

Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel said he was disappointed to hear of Kevin Grosskreutz discussing his issues with the club in public for a second time.

Grosskreutz, 27, has become a fan favourite at the Westfalenstadion after returning to his hometown club in 2009 having earlier spent time in the BVB youth ranks.

However, the defender's future is uncertain as his contract has just one year to run and Dortmund have yet to open talks over an extension.

Grosskreutz only returned to team training in preseason after suffering a knee injury in February, and he was left out of the squad for Thursday's 1-0 Europa League victory over Austrian side Wolfsberger AC.

In an interview with German tabloid Bild on Thursday, Grosskreutz said that nobody at Dortmund had spoken to him "in weeks."

Tuchel told Sport1: "That disappoints me a bit. That's the second time he's taken things public. That's not how we treat each other."

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc added: "I don't get it -- we are always in contact. Right now, there is nothing to discuss. Should he feel the desire to talk, we are there.

"He needs to find his form again, and has to do some work on the training pitch following his injury. We're not pushing for a transfer."

Grosskreutz, a passionate BVB supporter who followed his club from the famous Sudtribune during his years at second-tier club LR Ahlen, said on Thursday night that Bild had misquoted him.

Writing on his Instagram account, he said he had been referring to discussions about a new contract when he said Dortmund had not spoken to him.

"Of course it may be the case that I change clubs!" he wrote. "Yes, that could happen, but if I go, I want to go in the right way!"

He then clarified that Bild had asked him specifically about contract talks and that he had made his comment in response to that question, adding: "Of course I am disappointed. It's like someone telling you [his fans] that you are banned from the stadium forever.

"I will always have this club in my heart, and will always love the club. I was born in Dortmund, and know what Borussia Dortmund means, and honesty is a part of that.

"I will always root for Borussia Dortmund and the fans. No matter what happens in the upcoming days."
