Wolfsburg won't force Kevin De Bruyne to stay, no Man City bid yet

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has said that Manchester City have not made a bid for Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne but hinted they may allow the player to leave if he wanted to move this summer.

Reports in the UK media had suggested that City had opened talks over a deal to sign former Chelsea player, but Allofs said Wolfsburg have yet to receive any offer.

"We don't need the money and we haven't received a single bid from anyone," he confirmed. "Kevin is under contract until 2019, we're not a selling club.

"We're in a project at Wolfsburg to compete one day with Bayern Munich and we are in need of these types of players.

"Everybody loves Kevin in Wolfsburg and Germany -- it's not all about money."

However, Allofs said it was possible the 24-year-old could potentially leave if he were to express a desire to leave.

"We have to handle it seriously, we've have to respect the interest in the player, but the player also has to respect the interests of the club," Allofs added.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has yet to make any comment on his possible interest in De Bruyne, with Wolfsburg in a strong negotiating position as the player's contract still has three years left to run.

Allofs previously said that his club will offer the player a new contract to remain at Wolfsburg in a bid to fend off any possible interest from City.
