Zlatan Ibrahimovic: 'Big problem' with Man United boss Louis van Gaal

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Sports Illustrated his relationship with Louis van Gaal is still "not good," although he suggested it would not prevent him moving to Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic, 33, has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer and said this week that his future is in the hands of his agent.

While AC Milan have been most strongly linked with the Sweden international, he has also been linked with a move to United more recently.

The striker had played at Ajax when Van Gaal was technical director, but the pair did not get on, and the Dutchman resigned soon after selling Ibrahimovic in 2004 amid tension at the club.

Ibrahimovic described Van Gaal as "a pompous ass" who "wanted to be a dictator" in his 2013 autobiography, "I Am Zlatan," and the player's opinion of the United boss has not changed.

Asked what his relationship with Van Gaal is like now, he said: "No, that's not good. He was a director in Ajax, and the way he is working is not the way I work."

Pressed on whether it would be a problem were he to play for United, he said: "Big problem."

He stopped short of saying it would prevent him moving to Old Trafford, however.

"At the end, I think he is professional and I am professional," he said. "Whoever I work with, I never had this kind of problems, because at the end I need to do my job, he needs to do his job, and I think a lot of fights would happen, but that's something I like."

Speculation that United could make a move for Ibrahimovic had been fuelled when Van Gaal suggested United were close to signing a striker who had not previously been linked, but he has since clarified his comments.

"I don't know if I want to buy a striker," Van Gaal said. "I have read in the media a striker is the surprise. That's not what I said. I mean something else."
