Manchester United ask Sergio Ramos to demand Real Madrid exit - report

Manchester United want target Sergio Ramos to publicly declare his intention to leave Real Madrid this summer to pave the way for his transfer to Old Trafford, according to Marca.

The Madrid-based newspaper, which recently claimed United had made a €60 million for Ramos, featured the story on its front page on Friday under the headline: "United ask Ramos to declare that he wants to leave."

AS also reports the €60m bid but says Real are holding out for more and do not want to include David De Gea in any deal.

The 29-year-old defender has yet to be offered a contract extension by Los Blancos, with his current deal expiring in 2017, but Real are reluctant to part with the Spain international.

New Real boss Rafa Benitez said on Thursday that Ramos is a key player for the club and that he is "100 percent" certain the former Sevilla star will stay at the Bernabeu.

Marca report that Ramos will not declare his intention to leave until after he meets with Real president Florentino Perez because to do so beforehand would be disrespectful to the Spanish club.

Perez, who has also indicated that Ramos will not be sold, is expected to travel to China next week to meet with Ramos to try to convince the player to remain with Real.

Ramos reportedly asked Real several weeks ago to listen to offers for his services after 10 years at the club. Ramos is reported to be unhappy that the club, which offered new deals to defenders Dani Carvajal and Marcelo earlier this month, did not try to extend his deal.

Ramos is said to currently earn €6m net per season when combining his wages and endorsements. According to the Spanish press, United are willing to offer the player €10m net per season and the Spanish giants have no intention of reaching that figure.
