Man United target Sergio Ramos: I'm not negotiating with anyone

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos gave little away when asked about his future on Saturday amid interest from Manchester United.

Ramos is widely reported to be trying to push through a move to United after growing disenchanted with life at Madrid.

Marca, which reported on Friday that Ramos had made an "irrevocable" decision to leave, said on Saturday that Madrid are now relying on new boss Rafa Benitez to try to change the defender's mind.

Ramos was coy when asked by a Cuatro journalist how the negotiations were going, replying: "I am not negotiating with anyone."

The Spain international, who has two years remaining on his contract, declined to answer a further question on whether he was going to stay at the Bernabeu.

Sources told ESPN FC last week that, after seeing a €40 million bid rejected, United were reluctant to raise their offer for the player given that he is 29 years old.

Madrid also want to sign United goalkeeper David De Gea, and ESPN FC has been told the Premier League club want a world-record fee for a goalkeeper despite the fact he would be able to move on a Bosman transfer when his contract expires next summer.

The Guardian reported on Friday that United will only do business on De Gea if Ramos moves in the opposite direction.
