Inter Milan: Manchester City's Stevan Jovetic one player club are 'evaluating'

Inter Milan have revealed that they are interested in a summer move for Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic.

Jovetic, 25, is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium in the forthcoming transfer window after falling out of contention for a place in manager Manuel Pellegrini's team.

Former City manager Roberto Mancini is investigating the possibility of taking the former Fiorentina forward, who cost £22 million when he was signed in 2013, back to Italy.

"There are many players that we are evaluating at this moment," Inter director Piero Ausilio told reporters in Italy.

"Jovetic is one of them, and I don't know whether Manchester City [will] put him on the market or not.

"We need to bring in a few players. It's not a question of quantity but of quality. They must be talented, useful and functional to the project."

Inter have failed in attempts to sign two other members of the City squad, with James Milner opting to join Liverpool and Yaya Toure saying he is staying at the Etihad Stadium.

Jovetic did not start a single game for City in the last four months of the season and was omitted from their Champions League squad for the knockout stages of the competition, a decision he said "killed" him.

The Montenegro international, who began his career at Partizan Belgrade, has made only 11 league starts in two seasons as a City player and is thought to be interesting other Italian clubs and Liverpool.

City will need to offload some of their foreign players if they are to sign any more as they already have 17 senior players who do not qualify as homegrown -- the maximum that can be named in a Premier League squad.
