Kevin De Bruyne should sign for Bayern Munich, says Luiz Gustavo

Kevin De Bruyne has been advised by teammate Luiz Gustavo to sign for Bayern Munich should the Bundesliga champions make a move for the Wolfsburg star.

De Bruyne, 23, is being tracked by a host of top clubs this summer, including Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich after a stellar season in which he is on the verge of equalling the Bundesliga assists record with 19 to his name.

Wolfsburg, however, have insisted they do not need to sell their star midfielder.

Earlier this week, his agent Patrick De Koster confirmed City, PSG and Bayern had all made "informal contact" to find out about the future plans for the attacking midfielder.

De Bruyne has reiterated he could be open to a transfer should the right club make the right offer this summer, and added that he is prepared to move to a top club again some 18 months after being sold by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Speaking to kicker, Luiz Gustavo said that he would advise De Bruyne to join Bayern should they make a move for the Belgium international.

"I would tell him: Leave, my friend," the former Bayern midfielder joked. "But seriously, he has to know what he wants. But I can also tell him that there are not a lot of better clubs.

"Kevin is a very good player, who will join a big club one day. I am convinced he can come out on top at Bayern."

De Bruyne moved to within one assist of the the Bundesliga record, held by former Wolfsburg star Zvjezdan Misimovic and Bayern's Franck Ribery on 20, earlier this month. He has two games left in the season to match it.

It was reported that De Bruyne had already matched the record, but an assist recorded by kicker for a penalty he won against Freiburg is not counted by the Bundesliga's official statistics partner, Opta.
