Mousa Dembele hints at Tottenham exit, disappointed at lack of games

Mousa Dembele has hinted he could leave Tottenham this summer, saying that his lack of games at under Mauricio Pochettino has been "very disappointing."

Dembele, 27, has played 21 Premier League games for Spurs this season, but has only started nine of those and has completed just two full matches.

Pochettino's faith in young central midfield pairing Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb has seen Dembele struggle for chances, and the Belgium international says he will review his situation at the end of the season.

"Too much thinking can be detrimental to my game," he said in The Times. "But I admit that sometimes it is very disappointing.

"But it is not in me to see [Pochettino]. It's not easy, Tottenham have a large group, with many good players.

"I played six good games after one bad match and I had lost my place. But that's football, right? I can only train extra hard and make sure I'm mentally ready when I get my chance. At the end of the season we see it again."

Belgium host Cyprus on Saturday in the first of two Euro 2016 qualifying matches before travelling to Israel three days later, and Dembele admits he also faces a struggle to earn a starting role in Marc Wilmots' side.

"Here's the same story [as my club]," he added. "A lot of good players. The coach says I have courage."

Dembele's Belgium teammate and Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld has suggested he could join Spurs this summer, but admits parent club Atletico Madrid will decide his fate.
