Sundram asks Tampines to give all in do-or-die League Cup game

Coach V. Sundramoorthy has no doubts his Tampines Rovers side will go all out for a big win on Wednesday when they take on Warriors FC in The New Paper (TNP) League Cup.

The Stags are currently second in Group B after last week's 2-2 draw with Balestier Khalsa, where they twice relinquished a lead and ultimately had to settle for a point.

This now means that the only way they can grab top spot -- and a place in the semifinals -- is if they can better Balestier's 4-0 win over the Warriors.

Despite that heavy loss, the Warriors are the reigning Great Eastern Yeo's S.League champions and currently hold a one-point lead at the top of the table.

And while Sundram concedes his charges face a huge task at the Woodlands Stadium on Wednesday, he is fully confident they will give it their best shot.

"For us, it's just another game that we'll have to go out and try to win," the legendary Singapore attacker told ESPN FC.

"There's no doubt Warriors are a good team and that their 4-0 loss to Balestier was a one-off. But in football, anything is possible and I know my players will give 100 per cent and fight till the final whistle.

"We just have to focus on getting the win and see where that eventually gets us."

Nonetheless, if there is one team with the firepower capable of recording a big win over Warriors, it would be the star-studded Stags.

Sundram has a plethora of attacking options to call upon including Brazilian Rodrigo Tosi, Croatian Mateo Roskam and Singapore legends Indra Sahdan Daud and Noh Alam Shah.

They will receive plenty of support from Jamil Ali, Ismadi Mukthar and Fahrudin Mustafic.

Yet, Tampines could receive another huge boost as it was revealed former LionsXII captain Isa Halim could be available for selection.

"We're still in the process of sorting out Isa's 2.4 kilometre run, which is the S.League's mandatory fitness test. But there's a chance he will play," said Sundram.

"Hopefully, everything will be settled by Wednesday."

Meanwhile, though Warriors have already been eliminated, they will still be looking to produce a strong display as they build towards the restart of the S.League campaign.

Coach Alex Weaver is likely to miss central midfielder Thomas Beattie through injury once more. However, the Warriors attacking quartet of Fazrul Nawaz, Nicolas Velez, Miroslav Pejic and Hafiz Rahim are more than capable of giving their opponents real problems.

Warriors FC Probable Lineup: Daniel Ong, Syaqir Sulaiman, Daniel Bennett, Marin Vidosevic, Irwan Shah, Shi Jiayi, Emmeric Ong, Hafiz Rahim, Miroslav Pejic, Nicolas Velez, Fazrul Nawaz.

Tampines Rovers Probable Lineup: Joey Sim, Ismadi Mukhtar, Predrag Pocuca, Fahrudin Mustafic, Shaiful Esah, Firdaus Idros, Aqhari Abdullah, Fabian Kwok, Jamil Ali, Mateo Roskam, Rodrigo Tosi.
