Sevilla sporting director: Our aim is to progress past the group stage

Sevilla are bracing for another difficult Champions League campaign after being drawn in Group H with Juventus, Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb.

The Andalusian outfit has failed to progress from the group phase in recent years, yet has been one of the continent's most successful teams, winning the Europa League in each of the past three seasons.

"Our aim cannot be any other than to go progress past the group stages," Sevilla sporting director Monchi said on the club's official website.

"I think it's a difficult group. We know Juve, while Olympique Lyon were runners-up in France, a complicated team with very good players.

"The least known is Dinamo Zagreb, who are also champions.

"It's a level group, where Juve are favourites and the other three teams will battle to be there. It's going to be difficult to qualify because there is going to be a lot of competition.

"We need to focus it with the maximum enthusiasm and be able to compete at this level. "

Sevilla waved goodbye to coach Unai Emery, who led them to European glory the past three years and appointed former Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli as his replacement.

Emery took the reins of Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
