Sevilla to appoint Jorge Sampaoli as manager to replace Unai Emery

Sevilla will appoint Jorge Sampaoli as their new manager, the former Chile coach has said.

Unai Emery resigned as Sevilla manager last week amid heavy speculation that the three-time Europa League winning coach is set for the Paris Saint-Germain job.

And the club have moved quickly to line up their replacement, with Sampaoli set to be confirmed once Emery's departure has been officially completed.

"I'm hoping that the previous Coach's exit will be formalised so my arrival can be made official," Sampaoli, 56, told Radio La Red. "Sevilla came up this week. This is a team who will play in the Champions League, the [European] Super Cup against Real Madrid and another against Barcelona.

"This is the dream that I had, to manage a team like Sevilla, to compete at this level."

Sampaoli's best success as a coach came when he led Chile to the Copa America title in 2015.
