Sevilla's Unai Emery: Europa League is 'our competition' after third triumph

Sevilla boss Unai Emery said the Europa League is "our competition" after lifting the trophy for the third straight time on Wednesday.

Emery's men turned around a half-time deficit against Liverpool to run out 3-1 winners in Basel, Switzerland, and secure a spot in next season's Champions League.

The 44-year-old joined Giovanni Trapattoni as the only men to win the renamed UEFA Cup or Europa League three times -- although the Italian did it with two clubs, Inter and Juventus.

Emery's achievement was even better after an unprecedented third successive win in the competition.

"We love this competition. We want it so much. It is our competition," Emery said. "We are champions again and the Champions League is an opportunity to grow."

Sevilla's season is not over yet, as Emery will look to secure a trophy double if his team can upset Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Sunday.

"It's a unique satisfaction," Emery told BeIN Sports. "Now we have to enjoy it, knowing that we have another final on Sunday. The team -- and Sevilla -- deserve this."

Emery said he had to remind his players they were on neutral ground despite Liverpool fans taking up a good three-quarters of St Jakob-Park on Thursday.

"We organised our minds at the break and we knew why we had reached this stage," he said. "We had to remember that the neutral pitch was the Sanchez Pizjuan, that we were in Seville. And the team took off."

Emery's success will make him a target for a number of European clubs. However, the Spaniard is content to remain with the club for the long term.

"I am very happy here at the club. As long as Sevilla wants me we are preparing for the present and future," he added.

"I work thinking I am going to stay my whole life but I know how football works. I don't know what is going to happen."
