Ayr made easy work of East Stirling to cruise into the second round of the Scottish Communities League Cup with a 4-0 win.

The first League Cup meeting between these sides since 2008 took a while to spark into life but Ayr eventually took the lead five minutes after the break when Ryan Donnelly found the top corner.

And the home side's chances of getting level suffered a huge blow when David McKenna was sent off on the hour mark for serious foul play.

Just three minutes later his team-mates were 2-0 down when Scott McLaughlin converted a penalty following a foul by Conor Greene on Nicky Devlin.

And with 13 minutes to go Donnelly grabbed his second with a left-footed finish before Brian Gilmour found the bottom corner in added time to complete a comfortable victory at Ochilview.
