Amiens join Adel Taarabt chase

Amiens are set to rival Fenerbahce for the services of Benfica playmaker Adel Taarabt, according to reports in France.

According to France Football, Les Licornes are considering a move for the 29-year-old, who looks to have no future at his Portuguese employers despite being under contract until 2020.

Taarabt has also been linked with a return to Ligue 1 this window, although a proposed move to FC Nantes broke down after the two parties failed to agree personal terms during a meeting on July 30.

Earlier this week, CNN Turk reported that Super Lig heavyweights Fenerbahce were primed to offer the Morocco international an escape route from Lisbon.

Taarabt joined Tottenham Hotspur from Racing Club de Lens in 2007 but was subsequently sold to Queens Park Rangers after failing to establish himself at White Hart Lane.

He helped QPR reach the Premier League in 2011, but his subsequent career has been nomadic, including spells with Fulham, Genoa and AC Milan.

The playmaker signed a five-year deal with Benfica in 2015, but is yet to make a league appearance for the Eagles.
