Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic handed two-match ban

Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has been handed a two-game ban -- effective in the Coppa Italia -- for his behaviour on the touchline during his side's 2-0 win over Brescia on Thursday evening.

The Serbian coach has been punished for "contesting the refereeing, and pronouncing a defamatory remark towards the fourth official, and for sending the contents of a bottle of water towards [the fourth official], assuming an intimidating attitude after being told to moderate his language," according to a Lega Serie A disciplinary report published on the league association's website on Friday.

The 45-year-old will therefore miss the Blucerchiati's trip to his former club Inter Milan in the last-16 of the Coppa Italia in January and a potential quarterfinal clash with either Napoli or Udinese.

Mihajlovic was also subject to insulting chants from the Brescia fans which are also under investigation by the Lega Serie A.
