David Moyes 'holds talks with Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay'

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has met David Moyes in London in an attempt to convince the former Manchester United boss to take over at the La Liga club, according to reports in Spain.

Sociedad coach Jagoba Arrasate is believed to be on the brink of losing his job after a poor start to the season that has seen them win only one of their first nine La Liga games and go out of the Europa League to FC Krasnodar.

Moyes is reported to be the Basque club's favoured candidate to replace him if he is dismissed, and AS said Aperribay flew to the UK on Thursday to discuss the situation with the former Everton boss.

According to that report, Moyes has rejected an initial offer from the club and is also a contender for the Inter Milan job, with incumbent Walter Mazzari under pressure.

San Sebastian paper Diario Vasco claimed he had made the first contact with La Real to show his interest in the job.

The Scot was reportedly considered for the position in the past, and has said he would consider working outside the UK.

An immediate change is considered likely should Arrasate's team fail to win Saturday's La Liga game against Malaga at Anoeta.

Other possible replacements mentioned in media reports include former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel, ex-Betis and West Brom boss Pepe Mel and one-time Real Madrid, Sevilla and Tottenham manager Juande Ramos.
