Real Madrid can always be counted upon in Champions League - Kroos

Toni Kroos said "you should always count on Real Madrid" after they came back to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Bernabeu, but warned that their Champions League round-of-16 tie was "far from over."

Late goals by Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo sealed victory, with Ronaldo having levelled from the penalty spot seconds before the half-time whistle.

And speaking to German broadcaster ZDF, Kroos said: "The match could have gone either way in the second half. We are obviously delighted it went our way.

"Everyone knows that you should always count on Real Madrid, and we've shown that again today. It was the first step, and we'll hopefully make the second in Paris.

"We'll take a lot of confidence but it's also clear it's far from over. Paris have shown today how good they are, they had good chances every now and then.

"Those 90 minutes will be very long for us."

Last season, Madrid became the first team to defend the Champions League and, despite their struggles in La Liga, Kroos believes they can win it for a third consecutive time.

"We'll try and go for it again this year," he said. "Sure, it's our only chance for silverware this season, but on the other hand I don't see a lot of pressure on us in this competition.

"If you win back-to-back trophies, other clubs would love to have that problem."
