Cristiano Ronaldo Chilean hospital project is 'fake news' - Gestifute

Cristiano Ronaldo is not planning to build a pediatric hospital in Chile and has nothing to do with the businessman who spread "fake news" that he would do so, Ronaldo's representative confirmed to ESPN FC on Wednesday.

Gestifute, the agency that represents the Real Madrid star, issued a statement denying a story published by Efe News Agency on Tuesday. The report said that the Portugal captain was named as a partner in a joint venture with Italian entrepreneur Alessandro Proto to build hospitals around South America, beginning with one in Chile in 2020.

"It is a fake news, created by the same person who always promotes fake rumours about celebrities and Cristiano is one of them. So, this is not true. It was EFE agency that publish the news and they already deny this," the Gestifute statement reads.

Ronaldo's advisers in Portugal also confirmed to Efe that the story was not true, saying Ronaldo had no connection with the company that sent a statement to the Chilean media, to which Efe had access. Efe ran the original story based on reporting from their bureau in Bogota and several major media outlets carried the story on Tuesday.

Ronaldo's advisers urged "all the media to stop giving credit to any information linked to that entrepreneur."

According to EFE, The Brafman Associati Law Firm of New York, which has links to Proto, helped distribute the story. However, L'Equipe said on Tuesday night that they reached Brafman by phone and he denied that his agency distributed any such news release related to Ronaldo or a hospital in Chile.

A number of stories have already been released about Proto's alleged links to celebrities including Ronaldo.
