Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata feels hard done by draw at Las Palmas

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata admitted Saturday's 2-2 draw at Las Palmas was a blow to his team's La Liga title chances, but added there was no need to make a drama out of one result.

A very open first half saw Madrid youngster Marco Asensio strike first, only for Las Palmas midfielder Tana to soon equalise. Madrid substitute Karim Benzema appeared to have won the three points for his side when he scored with 20 minutes remaining, and Cristiano Ronaldo was then withdrawn thinking ahead to Tuesday's Champions League game at Borussia Dortmund.

But there was a late twist as substitute Sergio Araujo equalised for the Canary Islanders.

Speaking on Movistar Plus after the final whistle, the Los Blancos striker said these were the type of games which title challenging sides needed to win.

"These two points have slipped away and you need them to win La Liga," Morata said. "We should have won here, but we were not able to. Now we just have to keep working and give everything. We must win all the games possible."

Morata said he could not explain how his team had slipped up when in a winning position with time almost up.

"I don't know what happened, it is difficult to explain," he said. "These things happen in games. We have drawn the game and we must analyse it. The truth is we must give everything to win a La Liga title."

Zinedine Zidane's side have now dropped four points in four days following their midweek 1-1 draw at home to Villarreal. They remain top of the table, but are now just one point ahead of Barca, who had earlier on Saturday won 5-0 at Sporting Gijon.

"We have still not lost a game, so there is no need to be too dramatic," Morata said. "We are still top and the important thing is how it ends. I am going home feeling screwed by the draw. Now we must focus on the Champions League, although the truth is we have to improve many things and keep working."
