Alvaro Morata: I have nothing to prove to Real Madrid or Zinedine Zidane

Alvaro Morata has said he has nothing to prove to Real Madrid or coach Zinedine Zidane upon his return to the Bernabeu.

Earlier this month, Real activated a buy-back clause in the striker's contract to re-sign him two years after he left for Juventus, but there are reports the Spain international could be sold with several Premier League sides interested.

During his previous spell with Real, Morata struggled to displace Karim Benzema in the starting XI, but he insists he is a different player now.

In an interview with Cuatro, he said: "I've got nothing to prove. I'm not a Castilla [Real Madrid's second team] player anymore. Madrid will decide if I am able or not. If not, I'll have to take another decision.

"All I want is to be just another member of the squad and fight for a place in the side. My only intention is to be happy and be in a place where I feel wanted."

On the subject of interest from the Premier League, Morata said he was happy at Real but underlined the importance of playing regularly, adding: "I'm a Real Madrid player and that's all I can say. I'd love to continue at Real Madrid, but I want to feel like I am important and battle to win a place."
