MADRID -- Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is expected to miss the Champions League final with a muscle injury.
The club said tests on Sunday showed that the French player has a "grade 2 injury" in his left thigh muscle.
Madrid said Varane's "recovery will continue to be assessed," but he is likely to be sidelined for about three weeks.

Madrid bid to win their 11th Champions League title when they play rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan next Saturday.
Varane had not been in coach Zinedine Zidane's starting XI, with defenders Sergio Ramos and Pepe his first choices.
